Meaning “dancing mushroom” in Japanese, the Maitake mushroom (Grifola frondosa) is used to boost immunity, fight disease and lower blood sugar.

The Maitake mushroom emerges at the base of trees in Japan, China and North America. It’s also known as “hen of the woods” as it’s clustered, frilly appearance resembles a sitting hen.

Used for centuries in China and Japan, Maitake is growing in popularity around the world. The Maitake mushroom is incredibly rich in Beta-Glucans which activate and support the immune system. Modern research also suggests Maitake can lower blood sugar, support heart health and fight disease.

We source our Maitake from mushroom growers in the USA. Once it arrives at our farm in Gippsland we create our Maitake Extract using a unique and nourishing blend of Australian botanicals – Davidson Plum, Quandong, Strawberry Gum, Lemon Myrtle and Mountain Pepperberry which are rich in antioxidants, Vitamin C and Vitamin E.

How To Use

The recommended serving for Maitake Extract is 2ml per day or 1ml twice a day. Add it to your morning coffee, tea, smoothie or main meal. We recommend speaking to your doctor or health practitioner before using Maitake supplements.

What is dual extraction?

When we eat mushrooms in their raw form, their medicinal compounds are difficult to digest. We use alcohol and hot water to draw out the medicinal compounds of Maitake. This works to enhance its effect on your body as it becomes more bioavailable.

Are there any side effects of Maitake mushroom?

Maitake Extract is considered safe to consume, however Maitake can work to lower your blood sugar and blood pressure – so if you have underlying health concerns it’s best to consult your GP. If you’re allergic to mushrooms, please do not use our products.

Can children, pregnant women and nursing mothers use Maitake Extract

As mushroom farmers, this is not our area of expertise. Due to the lack of research in this area, we recommend children, pregnant women and nursing mothers avoid our products or consult their doctor before incorporating Maitake products into their diet.

Is there any research on the health benefits of Maitake mushrooms?

Maitake has only become popular in the western world in recent years. Because of this, research is limited. However, there are some promising new studies. Take a look…
